OTAVend: Provisioning
|
|
Content delivery should be as much a no-brainer for the user as choosing the product, paying and then receiving it.

The idea that you can provide this over the air as easily as someone buying a soft drink led to the creation of
OTAVend. OTAVend is the service responsible for the physical delivery of applications once authorisation has been granted (e.g.
by the acknowledgement of payment).
OTAVend also maintains a user database and credit system. Applications can be set up such that they need to
be "topped up" for the service to continue, the traditional management of which can be cumbersome and error-prone.
Having end-users able to top up by a variety of means (reverse SMS, web credit card, payment to the office etc)
removes all these setup costs and the burden of routine processing.
OTAVend can also handle the acknowledgements sent to the end-customer if necessary. This could be used to send
emails or SMS alerts when purchases are made. It is very easy, using the OTAScript system, to adapt this
further, for example to get an SMS sent automatically to customers who need to top up their service the day before it
expires.
